Outdoor Journal Radio: The Podcast
Angelo Viola and Peter Bowman, longtime hosts of Fish'n Canada, interview guests about fishing, hunting, and conservation issues affecting Canadian outdoors. Listeners follow current debates on access, wildlife management, and habitat alongside practical field talk.
The Orvis Fly-Fishing Podcast
Weekly episodes hosted by Tom Rosenbauer since 2007, archived and sorted by subject: trout, bass and pike, steelhead, saltwater, equipment and conservation. Guests are working guides and authors, and most episodes open by answering listener questions. The archive is browsable by topic rather than only chronological, making it usable as a reference.
Troutbitten
Over a thousand free articles, videos and podcast episodes by Pennsylvania guide Domenick Swentosky, organized into tactical series on tight-line nymphing, the Mono Rig, streamers, dry flies and night fishing. Focused on wild trout and on why a presentation fails. The strongest free intermediate-to-advanced material in the sport, and the answer to what a learner reads after the beginner courses run out. Content is organized into deliberate multi-part series.
The Orvis Fly-Fishing Guide, Revised
Rosenbauer's single-volume reference, revised in 2017, working through rods, lines, leaders, knots, entomology, casting mechanics and tactics for trout, bass, salmon and saltwater species. The lookup manual once the free video lessons have covered the basics.
The Curtis Creek Manifesto
Forty-eight page cartoon-illustrated primer from 1978, still in print through Frank Amato Publications. Anderson covers tackle selection, casting, reading moving water, insect identification, knots and stream etiquette in hand-drawn panels. Enduring community consensus over five decades, and unusually high signal-to-length ratio — the illustrated format teaches reading water and drift far faster than prose.
Animated Knots by Grog — Fishing Knots
Twenty-eight fishing knots demonstrated as step-by-step animations you can slow down or replay: improved clinch, Palomar, blood, nail, Albright, FG, Bimini twist, non-slip mono loop and others, grouped by job — attaching line to hook, joining lines, forming loops. Solves a discrete, high-frequency skill better than any book diagram or video: frame-stepped animation is the correct medium for knot instruction.
