Dantes Β· How we curate
How a resource gets on Dantes
Every resource we add has to pass the same four tests. Nobody can pay to be listed, to be ranked higher, or to skip the queue.
The four tests
- 1.
Authority
Who made it? We look for leading institutions, primary documentation, and practitioners with real standing in their field. A summary of a summary is out: we go and find the source it came from.
- 2.
Rigor
Does it teach how to think about the subject, or only which buttons to press? Practical guides can earn a place, but every topic should rest on at least one resource that teaches the underlying ideas.
- 3.
It replaces three others
If one masterclass or definitive book covers what five short tutorials do, we list the masterclass and leave the fragments out. A few strong choices beat a long list.
- 4.
Free first
Free resources come first. A paid course or subscription only gets in when it is the definitive resource in its field and nothing free comes close, and a topic gets at most one. Books are judged on quality alone, because any library can lend them.
Turned away on sight
- βPop-business and self-help filler
- βGet-rich-quick promises
- βThin listicles and SEO content farms
- βOutdated how-to guides
- βFree tiers that are really a teaser for an upsell
- βAnything we cannot verify is real
What we check on every listing
- βThe link works and points straight at the resource.
- βTitle, author and provider are correct.
- βFor books, the ISBN matches the edition and language we recommend.
- βDifficulty reflects prerequisites and how hard it is to follow, not length.
- βThe description says plainly what it is and what you will be able to do after it, with no marketing.
- βIt is clearly labelled free or paid.
- βIt is not already listed under another link, such as another edition or the same course on another platform.
Money and curation
- βNo paid placements, sponsored listings or paid reviews, in any form.
- βBook links are Amazon affiliate links. A book is picked on quality before anyone looks at whether it earns. See the affiliate disclosure.
- βPeople who support Dantes, and organisations that use its data, get no say over what is listed.
How do I get a resource listed?
- 1.Submit it on the contribute page. Anyone can, including the person who made it. If you made it, say so in the background field.
- 2.Confirm your email. The link we send is valid for 24 hours.
- 3.We review it against the four tests above, the same ones every new resource passes.
- 4.If it is accepted, we publish it and email you.
When a resource is not accepted, it is usually because the topic already has something that covers the same ground better.
Payment, commission offers, sponsorship, link swaps and repeat submissions do not change the review.
Something wrong with a listing?
Use the report button on any resource to flag a broken link, a wrong detail, or anything that does not meet this checklist. If you made a resource and want it corrected or removed, write to team@dantes.io.
