Information We Collect
We collect limited information to operate and improve the platform:
- Usage data β pages visited, time on site, referrer URLs, and browser/device type, collected automatically via analytics tools.
- Email addresses β only if you voluntarily subscribe to our newsletter. We do not store email addresses in any other context (see "Library Sync" below for how sign-in works without storing your address).
- Anonymous fingerprints β some features (library sync, upvotes, resource reports) are tied to a one-way cryptographic code derived from your email. This fingerprint cannot be turned back into your address, and the address itself is discarded immediately after the code is computed.
We do not require account creation and do not collect names, passwords, payment details, or any sensitive personal information.
Library Sync: Privacy by Design
You can sync your saved resources across devices without creating an account. Here is exactly how it works, because we believe you should not have to trust us blindly:
- We never store your email address. When you enter it, we use it once to send you a one-time sign-in code, convert it into an anonymous fingerprint (a one-way cryptographic hash that cannot be reversed into your address), and discard it. The address is not written to our database or our logs.
- No passwords. Signing in is done with a short-lived code sent to your email. There is no password to remember, and none for anyone to steal.
- What we store is the list of resources you saved and marked as finished, linked only to that anonymous fingerprint. If our database were ever breached, it would contain no email addresses and no way to identify you.
- Delete anytime. A "Delete synced data" button on your library page removes your synced list from our servers instantly. No email, no support ticket needed.
One honest trade-off: because we never keep your address, we cannot email you about your library. No reminders, no marketing. We consider that a feature.
How We Use Your Information
Information we collect is used solely to:
- Understand how the platform is being used and improve content quality.
- Send periodic newsletters with curated learning resources to subscribers.
- Diagnose technical issues and maintain site performance.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.
Cookies & Analytics
We use the following tools that may set cookies or collect usage data:
- Google Analytics β tracks aggregated, anonymized visitor statistics. Google may set cookies in your browser. You can opt out via the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
- Google reCAPTCHA β used on forms to prevent spam. reCAPTCHA collects hardware and software information to verify that you are human. This data is subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Note that some features of the site may not function correctly if cookies are disabled.
Third-Party Services
We rely on a small number of trusted third-party services to operate the platform:
- MongoDB Atlas β our cloud database provider, used to store platform content (topics, resources, categories) plus newsletter subscriptions and the anonymous-fingerprint data described above. No other personal user data is stored in this database.
- Resend β our email delivery provider, used to send newsletter emails, verification emails, and one-time sign-in codes. Addresses pass through Resend for delivery and are subject to its privacy policy.
- Amazon Associates β we participate in the Amazon affiliate program. When you follow a book link and make a purchase, Amazon may set cookies on your browser. See our Affiliate Disclosure for more details.
Each third-party service is subject to its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review their policies directly.
Your Rights
You have the following rights with respect to your personal information:
- Unsubscribe β every newsletter email includes an unsubscribe link. You can opt out at any time.
- Data deletion β your synced library can be deleted directly from the library page with one click. For anything else (e.g. your newsletter subscription), contact us and we will process your request promptly.
- Access & correction β you may request a copy of any personal data we hold about you, or ask us to correct inaccuracies.
