Can Charisma Be Taught? Tests of Two Interventions

Field experiment with 34 managers plus a lab experiment with 41 MBA speakers testing whether twelve charismatic leadership tactics — metaphor, story, rhetorical question, moral conviction, ambitious goals — can be trained. Both interventions raised observer-rated charisma. This is one of the few randomized causal tests, and it targets the component learners most want — articulating a compelling vision — with a concrete enumerated tactic list rather than exhortation.
