Wolfram MathWorld
MathWorld is an online mathematics encyclopedia from Wolfram Research offering detailed, browsable articles on topics across the math spectrum, including algebra, geometry, calculus, and number theory. Each entry includes definitions, theorems, formulas, diagrams, worked examples, and links to further reading.
SciPy ODEINT Documentation
Reference page for scipy.integrate.odeint, SciPy's wrapper around the LSODA solver from ODEPACK. Covers the function signature, tolerances, Jacobian options and output diagnostics, with a worked pendulum example, so readers can numerically integrate systems of ordinary differential equations in Python.
Numerical Solution of Boundary Value Problems for Ordinary Differential Equations
The reference for actually computing BVP solutions: shooting and multiple shooting, finite differences, collocation, decoupling and dichotomy theory, mesh selection, nonlinear solvers and singular perturbations, with appendices giving sample multiple-shooting and collocation codes.
Finite Difference Methods for Ordinary and Partial Differential Equations
Unifies stability theory for ordinary and partial differential equations. Part one treats two-point boundary value problems, elliptic equations and iterative solvers for sparse systems; part two covers initial value problems and parabolic and hyperbolic PDEs, proving consistency, stability and convergence.
Numerical Methods for Ordinary Differential Equations
Graduate text by the leading authority on Runge–Kutta theory, covering Runge–Kutta, linear multistep and general linear methods for initial value problems, with rigorous analysis of order conditions (via rooted trees), stability and convergence, preparing readers to analyze and design ODE integrators.
Numerical Methods for Engineers
This course covers the most important numerical methods that an engineer should know, including root finding, matrix algebra, integration and interpolation, ordinary and partial differential equations. We learn how to use MATLAB to solve numerical problems, and access to MATLAB online and the MATLAB grader is given to all students who enroll. We assume students are already familiar with the basics of matrix algebra, differential equations, and vector calculus. They should have a working knowledge of a programming language, and be willing to learn MATLAB. The course contains 74 short lecture videos and MATLAB demonstrations. After each lecture or demonstration, there are problems to solve or programs to write. The course is organized into six weeks, and at the end of each week, there is an assessed quiz and a longer programming project.
