Cryptography I
Cryptography is an indispensable tool for protecting information in computer systems. In this course you will learn the inner workings of cryptographic systems and how to correctly use them in real-world applications. The course begins with a detailed discussion of how two parties who have a shared secret key can communicate securely when a powerful adversary eavesdrops and tampers with traffic. We will examine many deployed protocols and analyze mistakes in existing systems. The second half of the course discusses public-key techniques that let two parties generate a shared secret key. Throughout the course participants will be exposed to many exciting open problems in the field and work on fun (optional) programming projects. In a second course (Crypto II) we will cover more advanced cryptographic tasks such as zero-knowledge, privacy mechanisms, and other forms of encryption.
OWASP Foundation
Nonprofit foundation publishing open web application security standards and guides, including the OWASP Top Ten, the Application Security Verification Standard, the Web Security Testing Guide and the Cheat Sheet Series, used to identify, test for and prevent common web vulnerabilities.
tryhackme.com
TryHackMe is an online cybersecurity training platform offering hands-on labs, guided learning paths, and real-world scenarios (rooms and challenges) to practice penetration testing, web security, and network defense in an interactive, gamified environment.
Hacking Exposed: Network Security Secrets and Solutions
Long-running reference on network attack techniques, organized around the attacker's workflow: footprinting, scanning and enumeration, then exploitation of Windows, UNIX, remote-access and wireless systems, each paired with countermeasures. Readers learn how intrusions unfold so they can harden networks; some tool coverage is dated.
Krebs on Security
Brian Krebs's investigative blog covering data breaches, cybercrime operations, and payment fraud. Reading it regularly builds a working sense of how real attacks unfold, who runs them, and which defensive failures keep recurring across organizations.
